Fiscally Responsible Science
While we will not make scientific decisions on cost, given the current funding climate it is important that we be responsible with costs. This means being mindful with experiments and their execution to not be wasteful.
Grant Expectations
While it is never expected that a trainee receives funding to be in the lab or to continue their project, it is expected that everyone in the lab will apply. These applications will come when there is an appropriate funding opportunity and the project has compiled the correct amount of preliminary data. The process of applying for and being granted funding is an essential skill to learn in academic science. As such, Jon will talk regularly about the funding process, the status of grants in the lab, and work together with each trainee on these grants.
