- Be courteous and respectful of everyone in lab
- Be mindful of the space in our lab
- Be scientifically engaged and curious
- Be a good lab citizen (notice when things are running low, replace reagents, empty trash, etc)
- Will procure funding for the lab
- Will determine the overall scientific direction of the lab
- Will provide scientific and career mentorship
- Will help to resolve any conflicts within the group
- Are expected to work with Jon to design a project complementary to but separate from the work in the lab
- Are expected to work an average of 40 hours a week in the lab (This will fluctuate each week depending on the project). The hours worked can be flexible, so long as progress continues to be made. It is expected that at least half of these hours are completed during business hours
- It is expected that postdocs will serve as primary first author on manuscripts relating to their project
- It is expected that they consistently present at relevant seminars and stay on top of literature
- Are expected to help members in the lab with less experience in techniques and other aspects of science
- Work closely with Jon to design an independent project within the lab goals
- Graduate students are expected to work an average of 40 hours a week in the lab (This will fluctuate each week depending on the project). The hours worked can be flexible, so long as progress continues to be made. It is expected that at least half of these hours are completed during business hours.
- Are expected that graduate students will have independent projects which will lead to manuscripts in which they are the primary author
- Are expected to stay on top of relevant literature
- Are expected that they present regularly in lab meetings, work in progress seminars, and other opportunities
- Work directly with Jon
- It is expected that technicians will work 40 hours a week and have 2 year commitments to the group. The majority of this time will be completed during business hours (9-5, M-F)
- It is expected that they begin to pilot projects (as directed by Jon) that may turn into fully funded projects that may end up being lead by graduate students or postdocs
- Those manuscripts relating from these projects technicians will be contributing authors on
- Technicians will also have a number of lab responsibilities including keeping track of inventory and common solutions
- Will work directly with a more senior member of the lab on their project
- Will work at least 10 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 during the summer (depending on the program)
- After one year in the lab it is expected that undergraduate and medical students will have made a substantial contribution to merit contributing authorship on a manuscript
- Responsible for general lab cleanliness and alerting when supplies are low
